Car smashes through Modesto weed dispensary. Two injured, one arrested, police say

Modesto Fire Department

Two people were injured when a car crashed into a Modesto marijuana dispensary on Monday afternoon, according to the Modesto Fire Department.

Pictures from the crash show a four-door sedan came to a stop in the lobby of Cookies Modesto, located on the 1900 block of Orangeburg Avenue. There is a car-sized hole shown on the side of the building. A Fire Department report stated the car went through two walls.

The driver of the car, a 35-year-old Modesto man, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license, according to the Modesto Police Department. The suspended license was due to a previous DUI, police said.

Firefighters arrived at about 11:20 a.m. and found two patients with minor injuries. The driver of the vehicle was pinned in. However, crews were able to extricate them. Both patients were transported to a local hospital.

City building inspectors were called to the scene to examine the damage caused by the crash.

The Modesto Police Department is investigating.
