Update: Shooting on East Roseburg in Modesto leaves one injured. Suspect arrested

A woman was shot Monday night on the 500 block of East Roseburg Avenue and taken to a hospital for treatment, according to the Modesto Police Department.

The shooting happened just be fore 11 p.m. The Modesto Fire Department responded to the scene to treat a patient with “life-threatening injuries.”

MPD’s release stated that a woman suffered “at least one gunshot wound.” She remained in critical condition as of Tuesday afternoon.

A 47-year-old man, Keith Vennema, was talked to at the scene and detained in connection with the shooting.

Vennema was interviewed by detectives and arrested on suspicion of attempted murder as well as domestic violence and weapons-related charges. His bail was set to $1.7 million.

Police would not release any additional details.
