Update: Man stabbed to death in Modesto on Saturday night. Suspect arrested, police report
A suspect is behind bars in a fatal stabbing Saturday night in Modesto’s airport neighborhood.
Shortly before 8 p.m. Saturday, police officers responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon on the 1300 block of Trenary Way, about a quarter mile west of Orville Wright Elementary School.
Two men were found suffering stab wounds. Officers determined the men — Abraham Terrones-Linares and Abel Camarillo — were in an altercation and stabbed each other, Modesto Police Department spokeswoman Sharon Bear said.
Terrones-Linares, 27, was “unresponsive and not breathing,” according to a Modesto Fire Department incident summary. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.
Camarillo, 33, was treated for wounds that were not life-threatening, Bear said. He was arrested on a homicide charge and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center, where he remained held without bail Sunday.
Details of what led up to the altercation remain under investigation, Bear said. Witnesses are urged to call Detective Greg Booza at boozag@modestopd.com.
