Pizza delivery driver robbed in Tuolumne County
Tuolumne County sheriff’s officials on Sunday were looking for a man who robbed a pizza delivery driver Saturday afternoon.
The driver was not injured, and she did not see a weapon at the time of the robbery, sheriff’s officials said.
The robbery occurred about 4:45 p.m. as the Round Table Pizza employee was delivering a pizza on Lambert Lakes Road, just southeast of Sonora. Sheriff’s officials said a man flagged down the delivery driver. The man said he had ordered the pizza. The delivery driver got out of the vehicle with the pizza.
The man then reached into the vehicle and turned off the engine, removing the key from the ignition. Sheriff’s officials said the suspect then took the delivery driver’s cell phone, money bag and the pizza. There was about $100 in the money bag.
The robber threw the delivery driver’s car keys down the road and told her “Don’t leave for 15 minutes,” according to sheriff’s officials.
The robber then left in a silver vehicle similar that appeared to be a PT Cruiser. The delivery driver found her keys and drove back to the pizza eatery to call authorities.
Deputies searched the area but did not find the robber. Sheriff’s officials described the robber as a Latino, standing about 5 feet 9 inches tall with a skinny build and tattoos on his forearms, about 20 to 30 years old, and wearing a white tank top, dark shorts and sneakers.
Investigators ask anyone who may have witnessed this strong-arm robbery or has additional information to call the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Department at (209) 533-5815.
