$4.5M worth of allegedly illegal marijuana busted in multi-agency Stanislaus County raid
In a joint effort by numerous agencies, a bust of “sophisticated black market” marijuana grows took place Tuesday morning in Turlock and Ceres, according to law enforcement.
The search resulted in over 5,500 cannabis plants, six firearms and about $12,000 in cash confiscated from five locations — the 6400 block of West Main Street (Turlock), 700 block of North Faith Home Road (Turlock), 4900 block of South Prairie Flower Road (Turlock), 200 block of South Orange Street (Turlock) and 1300 block of Hackett Road (Ceres).
The estimated street value of the plants was $4.5 million, according to the California Department of Cannabis Control.
Three men and a woman, all from Turlock, were arrested on suspicion of “multiple health and safety code violations related to marijuana cultivation.” One of the men also faces charges of possessing a stolen firearm (the only weapon alleged to be stolen) and possession of a controlled substance while armed, according to the release.
“Additional charges and suspects are likely to be forthcoming,” read the release.
The search was coordinated between seven different agencies: the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office, the Merced County Sheriff’s Office, Turlock Police Department, Ceres Police Department, Modesto Police Department, the California Department of Cannabis Control and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
