The Sheriff;s Office received multiple reports Tuesday night about 9:30 p.m. that someone had posted on Instagram, “Tomorrow it’s the end I’m being so for real I’m being a weap0n to salida middle school at noon.”
Because of the severity of the post, deputies began immediately investigating, according to a news release by the Sheriff’s Office. Salida Union School District personnel were notified and cooperated with law enforcement to ensure the safety of students and staff.
Several deputies were on campus and in the surrounding area Wednesday morning for increased security while investigators worked to identify who owns the Instagram account and made the post.
During the morning hours of the schoolday, The Bee was able to learn only that classes were proceeding as usual with the increased police presence.
“This morning, multiple students reported to school employees that they knew who made the threats,” says the Sheriff’s Office news release. “It was another student who told several peers that they were going to make the social media post. The student, who was on campus today, was quickly pulled from class and spoken to by staff members. The juvenile admitted to making the post and did not have any weapons.”
