Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run on Highway 132 near Modesto Reservoir

A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle near the intersection of Yosemite Boulevard/Highway 132 and Hazeldean Road near Modesto Reservoir on Tuesday night, according to officials.

The Modesto Fire Department responded to the call east of Waterford at about 8 p.m. and found California Highway Patrol officers providing life support services to a male adult. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a CHP news release.

Officers are searching for a GMC pickup truck, possibly white in color, believed to be the vehicle involved.

Through its investigation, the CHP determined the man was walking in the roadway as a vehicle traveled east. After striking the man, the driver left the scene.

The name of the decedent, who has been identified as a 52-year-old Watsonville resident, is being withheld pending notification of family.
