Fresno teen taken into custody in connection with Turlock human-trafficking case
Turlock police reported Monday that a 16-year-old boy is in custody for his suspected involvement in a human-trafficking case.
The teen is a Fresno resident but the trafficking case involves a Turlock girl, according to a Police Department spokeswoman.
Fresno police took the boy into custody at the Fresno County Fair on Oct. 15, according to a Turlock Police Department Facebook post. Turlock officers booked the teen at the Stanislaus County Juvenile Hall the next day.
The post states the boy is suspected of human trafficking of a minor by force, pimping and pandering.
Turlock police released these potential signs that a child could be a trafficking victim:
▪ having more than one cellphone
▪ unexplained large amounts of cash
▪ new tattoos in relation to names or human-trafficking symbols, such as crowns
▪ unexplained injuries
▪ possession of high-end clothing not purchased by parents
▪ behavior changes, including detaching from friends and family.
