Modesto family of slain 4-year-old needs help with burial cost. ‘A very devastating time’
A friend of the family has launched an online fund-raiser on behalf of a slain 4-year-old girl in Modesto.
The GoFundMe account identifies the victim as Sana Akram and seeks help with her burial cost.
Sana’s mother, Mina Nazari, 34, faces murder and other charges following her arrest Saturday at the family’s apartment off Scenic Drive.
Mushtaq Qauomi created the GoFundMe account.
“The child’s father, Fahim Akram, is a full-time Uber driver with an 11-year-old son,” Qauomi wrote, “so any donations will be greatly appreciated as this is a very devastating time. God bless.”
Modesto police said the father called 911 at about 12:45 p.m. Saturday to report an assault in the apartment. The girl was dead when officers arrived, and Nazari was arrested at the scene, police said.
No other details have been released, including a possible murder weapon and what led to Sana’s death.
Nazari also faces an attempted murder charge, apparently against another child, and two counts of child endangerment. “A second child was located in the home and was fortunately unharmed,” a police news release said Sunday.
The alleged homicide happened at the Crown Ridge apartments, a gated complex on the north side of Scenic at Claus Road.
Nazari is being held without bail at the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center. She does not yet have a date for her first appearance in Stanislaus Superior Court.
