Ceres woman killed at south Modesto motel. Stanislaus Sheriff’s Office investigating

A Ceres woman was shot to death at a south Modesto motel early Saturday morning, according to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office.

At about 12:15 a.m. deputies were dispatched to the Driftwood Inn on South Ninth Street, where they found a woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim, identified as 34-year-old Natasha Irizarry, died at the scene.

Sgt. Erich Layton said Irizarry was renting a room at the motel and was shot outside the room.

He had no other details about the incident, including whether a motive has been determined or a suspect identified.

The Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene and assumed control of the investigation.
