Man arrested in shooting at Modesto beauty salon

A man suspected of shooting a woman at a Modesto hair salon earlier this month was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail Tuesday.

Ellis Jamal Grey, 36, is suspected in the July 3 shooting of a woman at the Simply Unique Hair Boutique at 3800 McHenry Ave.

Grey allegedly assaulted the woman then shot her in the arm as she stood near the entrance of the salon.

A warrant for Grey’s arrest on suspicion of attempted murder was issued the next day.

He was arrested on that warrant Monday during a traffic in West Sacramento and transferred to Stanislaus County Tuesday.
