Woman suffers minor wound to arm in shooting near Rose Avenue Elementary in Modesto
A woman in her vehicle at Rose Avenue and Wylie Drive, near Rose Avenue Elementary School, suffered a minor wound to her left arm late Monday when another car pulled up alongside her and an occupant or occupants opened fire, according to Modesto police.
Though several shots were fired, the woman was struck only once, said Police Department spokeswoman Heather Graves. An ambulance responded to the scene and the victim was treated and released.
Police were called about 11:45 p.m. The woman, who told officers she resides on nearby Gemini Court, said the shots were fired from a dark vehicle that then drove off. She had no further description of the vehicle, and no description of its occupant or occupants.
Almost an hour earlier, at 10:49 p.m., officers received multiple calls of shots fired on Gemini Court. Witnesses reported a white car and dark car fleeing the area. Officers recovered shell casings from the scene, Graves said, but it was unclear what, if anything, had been struck.
