Modesto police get two reports of non-fatal shootings

Police are investigating a shooting in north Modesto that occurred about 11 p.m. Saturday and another than happened earlier in the evening about two miles away.

In the first case, the victim knocked on a door in the vicinity of Park Place and Rumble Road, saying he had been shot in Chrysler Park, said Modesto police Sgt. Garret Crawford. Other witnesses reported hearing gunshots, he said.

The victim was taken to a hospital with wounds that did not appear to be life-threatening, Crawford said.

The earlier shooting, in the 3500 block of Tully Road, sent one man to a hospital with a bullet wound in his leg, said Modesto Fire Department Battalion Chief Hugo Patino. No further details were available Sunday.
