Woman shot in arm at Modesto hair salon

A woman at a Modesto hair salon was shot in the arm Friday afternoon, suffering wounds that were not life-threatening, authorities said.

Modesto police responded to a call of shots fired at the Simply Unique Hair Boutique at 3800 McHenry Ave. around 2:45 p.m. When they arrived, they found the injured woman inside the salon.

There was no immediate word on a possible motive.

It wasn’t immediately known if the woman was inside or outside the salon when the shooting occurred. There was a bullet hole in the glass door.

The suspect is described as black, age 30 to 35. Witnesses told police he fled the scene in a blue Ford Mustang.

Though it has a McHenry address, the salon faces East Union Avenue. It is in the same long building that contains Stop N’ Save Liquors, which faces McHenry, but the salon is several doors back.
