Coroner ID’s pedestrian killed in Modesto hit-and-run. ‘A sweet, loving soul’
Dakota Stockton, 23, was the pedestrian killed July 6 by a hit-and-run driver on McHenry Avenue, the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office said.
The victim’s mother, Marlena Stockton, recalled him Sunday in a GoFundMe post seeking donations for funeral expenses:
“On July 6th we lost Dakota far too soon in a tragic, unfair incident. He was a sweet, loving soul who was deeply loved by his family. Through all of life’s ups and downs, Dakota was always sure to provide others with a smile.”
An update was not available Monday on the Modesto Police Department’s investigation into the accident. It happened at about 10:50 p.m. north of Standiford Avenue.
Police last week said bystanders found the victim down near the curb on the northbound side of McHenry. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No details were available about the vehicle that hit Stockton.
