Man found on riverbank near Manteca campground was killed, SJ Sheriff’s Office says

The man whose body was found Wednesday washed ashore near a Manteca campground has been identified as a Manteca resident, and his death is being investigated as a homicide.

Late Wednesday morning, a fisherman reported finding the body on the bank of the San Joaquin River near the Turtle Beach Resort. The deceased has been positively ID’d as 53-year-old Joseph Raymond Tigue.

In a Facebook post Thursday afternoon, the San Joaquin Sheriff’s Office said detectives are investigating and no additional information will be released at this time.

Detectives ask anyone with information on Tigue’s death to call 209-468-4425 and refer to case No. 22-8138. Callers may remain anonymous.
