Modesto police seek driver involved in hit-and-run that leaves pedestrian badly injured
Modesto police are looking for the driver involved in a hit-and-run incident that caused major injuries to a pedestrian Thursday morning on McHenry Avenue.
Brian Watson, 43 of Modesto, was walking east about 6 a.m. against a no-walk signal on McHenry at Briggsmore Avenue, according to the Police Department. A northbound vehicle that had a green light struck Watson, and the driver fled the scene.
Watson was taken to a hospital with major injuries and remained in critical condition Thursday afternoon.
Officers with the Traffic Safety Unit are asking for help locating the driver of the vehicle involved, which appears to be a white or silver sedan. Officers also want to speak with a witness who was driving behind that car.
Anyone with information about the hit-and-run is asked to contact Officer Kyle Johnson at JohnsonK@modestopd.com.
