An ATM was stolen Saturday morning from a Village One gas station, the Modesto Police Department said.

Two people drove a dark SUV around 6:30 a.m. to Aisle 1, the gas station connected to Raley’s Supermarket on Floyd Avenue, Lt. Steve Stanfield said. They smashed the store’s front window, tied a strap around the ATM and “yanked it right out” before fleeing.

Investigators believe both people were males, Stanfield said, but nothing else was known Saturday afternoon about their identities or the type of SUV they were driving. It is still unclear how much damage was done to the store or how much cash may have been in the ATM.
