The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a multi-scene Friday afternoon incident as a homicide.
Deputies began a preliminary death investigation around 2 p.m. near Shearwater Drive and James Burke Avenue in Patterson, according to a Friday night news release.
Additional information, including the name of the victim, has not yet been made public.
“No arrests have been made at the writing of this press release, no suspect or vehicle information is available, and other details surrounding the altercation are still being investigated,” the release said.
The incident originally was categorized as an assault with a deadly weapon as investigators examined several scenes believed to be related, Sgt. Luke Schwartz said earlier in the day.
The Sheriff’s Office asks anyone with information to call Detective Summerton at 209-525-7032 or submit anonymous tips to Stanislaus Area Crime Stoppers at 209-521-4636.
