Modesto man shot in shoulder during robbery attempt

A Modesto man was shot in the shoulder after a robbery attempt Tuesday morning in west Modesto, authorities said.

The incident occurred at 6:20 a.m. at an apartment complex on Paradise Road, Modesto Police Department spokeswoman Heather Graves said.

The shotgun blast to the victim’s left shoulder was not believed to be life-threatening.

The man was going out to his car when he was approached by two men demanding money, police said. When the victim refused, one of the men shot him.

The pair then left in a dark-colored sedan.
