Someone is driving around and shooting paintballs at people in Modesto. Police seek help

Eight people have been the victims of paintball gun attacks in Modesto over a one-week span and police are investigating additional reports of attacks over the Labor Day Weekend.

The victims were struck while doing a variety of activities like walking, sitting in front of a business, or doing yard work in the afternoons and early evenings from Aug. 26 to Sept. 1, said Modesto Police Department spokeswoman Sharon Bear.

The incidents occurred at various locations including downtown on H Street, College and Coldwell Avenues and on Yosemite Boulevard.

Bear said the targets appear to be random. The victims had red marks and pain but no one has been seriously injured.

None of the victims saw the suspect or suspects, “They just feel they are struck and see pink paint or blue paint,” then a vehicle fleeing, Bear said.

Victims described the vehicle as a small 4-door sedan, possibly a Toyota Corolla or Chevrolet Prizm. Bear said the color has been described as silver, gray or brown.

Anyone with information about the suspects or vehicle is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 209-521-4636.
