Modesto resident Pedro Araiza was sentenced to six years in prison after being convicted of home invasion robbery, Stanislaus County District Attorney Birgit Fladager announced on Friday.
Araiza and co-defendant Stephen Tisdale went to the 3700 block of Coffee Road on Halloween in 2018, looking for 58-year-old Sameer Sogul.
When they found Sogul’s home, they robbed Sogul and Tisdale shot Sogul in the neck, killing him.
Araiza was arrested during a traffic stop on Yosemite Boulevard in December 2018 and was booked on suspicion of murder, criminal street gang activity, being a convicted felon in association with a street gang and home invasion robbery.
For his role in the robbery, Araiza pleaded guilty on Aug. 19.
Tisdale was convicted of murder in this case and one other and was sentenced to 200 years-to-life in prison.
