Modesto PD seizes nearly $900,000 in cash in illegal marijuana investigation
Modesto Police seized nearly $900,000 in cash and arrested 31 people during a recent long-term investigation into an illegal marijuana grow and drug trafficking organization in the south Modesto area.
The department posted information on the investigation on its Facebook page Thursday afternoon.
Investigators with the department’s Major Crimes Unit served 16 search warrants which resulted in the destruction of over 12,000 marijuana plants, police said. Investigators also recovered 15 firearms, including multiple assault rifles.
The department got help from the Merced County Sheriff’s Department, Stanislaus County Special Investigation Unit, and the state Department of Fish & Wildlife.
