Four passengers, including three children, were taken to hospitals Tuesday night, Aug. 4, 2020, after a drunk driver lost control and went off the road in Oakdale, police say.

A 26-year-old Modesto man faces charges after a single-car crash that injured his four passengers, including three children, Oakdale police report.

The crash occurred at 8:29 p.m. Tuesday on the 700 block of North Yosemite Avenue, the Police Department said in a post on its Facebook page. Brant Savage was driving south when he lost control of his car and veered off the road. The car hit a fence and rolled over, ending up in a yard.

His four passengers were taken to area hospitals for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening, police said. A 25-year-old woman suffered moderate to severe injuries. A 5-year-old girl had a scraped shoulder, an 8-year-old boy had a bump to the head and the extent of injuries to an 11-year-old girl was unknown.

It was not immediately clear whether Savage was injured, but he was arrested and taken to the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.

Police said a preliminary reading showed Savage had a blood alcohol content of .09, above the legal limit of .08.

He faces charges of driving under the influence, child endangerment and driving with a suspended license. Savage remained in custody Thursday morning, with bail set at $200,000.
