Pedestrian expected to survive hit-and-run on McHenry in Modesto. Police seek driver
Police are looking for the driver of a newer-model dark sedan that struck a female pedestrian on McHenry Avenue on Tuesday morning and then fled the scene.
The pedestrian suffered serious injury and was taken to a hospital for treatment, Modesto police Lt. Jason Grogan said. She is expected to survive.
The crash, at Fairmont Avenue — where the Tiki Lodge and Lounge are on the east side of McHenry and the Seasons event center is on the west — was reported by a passerby shortly before 5 a.m. The victim apparently was crossing McHenry, and there is a crosswalk at the intersection, but it’s not yet known if she was using it.
Grogan said that once businesses in the area opened, officers would be seeking any surveillance images of the collision.
Anyone who witnessed the hit-and-run is asked to call the Police Department at 209-572-9500 or Stanislaus Area Crime Stoppers at 209-521-4636. Tips also can be submitted via www.stancrimetips.org.
