Turlock police seek tips on 2 homicide cases from October 2018. Three men were killed

Turlock police on Tuesday asked for the public’s help with two homicide cases that left three men dead in October 2018.

One involves Johnny Wilson, who was 18 when he died in a drive-by shooting outside a home on the 300 block of West Linwood Avenue on Oct. 11 that year.

The other victims were Alexis Jimenez, 20, and Ismael Arteaga, 23, both from Delhi. They were found dead of gunshot wounds in a vehicle on Fulkerth Road at Highway 99 on Oct. 18.

“These are two separate homicide investigations where we have developed new leads,” Sgt. Michael Parmley of the Turlock Police Department said in an email. “Unfortunately, I can’t elaborate on what leads we have developed, but we are still working to seek justice for the three victims.”

Innocent victim of gang violence

Wilson’s grandmother told The Modesto Bee last year that he was the innocent victim of gang violence. He had just graduated from Fusion Charter School, down the street from the shooting scene. He previously attended Oakdale High School, where he was a member of the drum line and played guitar.

The grandmother, who identified herself only as Jo, was part of an in-depth story on young shooting victims in Stanislaus County.

“Somebody has to know something; we just need someone to come forward,” she said last year. “If more people would come forward, we might be able to get more control of what is happening because it is happening every day and more than once a day.”

The shooting happened just before 9 p.m. Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said three or four other people were in the front yard at the time, but did not elaborate.

Bodies found at interchange

The two other deaths were reported at about 2:15 a.m. on Oct. 18, 2018. Police said the bodies of Jimenez and Arteaga were found in a vehicle in the left turn lane from Fulkerth to southbound 99.

More than five shots were fired, police said, but further details were not released.. The department got 911 calls from several motorists who came upon the scene.

People with information about the double homicide can call Detective Brandon Bertram at 209-664-7323. Tips about the Wilson shooting can go to Detective Frank Navarro at 209-664-7319.

Tipsters in both cases also can use the department’s Tip Line at 209-668-5550, extension 6780, or send an email to tpdtipline@turlock.ca.us.
