Two adults and a 12-year-old boy are dead in what Ceres police are investigating as a murder-suicide.

Officers were dispatched about 2:15 a.m. Monday to a residence on the 2700 block of Roeding Road on a report of three people who were bleeding and not breathing, the Ceres Police Department said in a news release. Officer Frederico Ortiz said a neighbor made the 911 call.

Officers found a man, a woman and a boy who’d been shot. The preliminary investigation indicates the man shot the woman and the boy, and then himself. All were pronounced dead at the scene.

The identities are being withheld until family is notified, police said.

An employee of the Windmere apartment complex confirmed the incident occurred there and said the family had been tenants for some time. The employee said another relative was in the home at the time and was not hurt.

Detectives are conducting a “thorough and comprehensive investigation,” the news release said. Ortiz said no further information is being put out at this time, including whether there was anyone else in the home and if there is a history of domestic-violence calls to the address or involving either of the adults.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to contact Detective Matthew Berlier at 209-538-5616.
