Two men and two male minors have been arrested in a couple of drive-by shootings last week in which homes were struck with bullets but no one was wounded, Modesto police reported.

Both shootings were Tuesday. The first was on Middlecoff Avenue, just west of the Dryden Park Golf Course, the Police Department said in a post on its Facebook page. The second shooting was in the evening on Larkin Avenue, about four miles away, just west of the Modesto Airport.

“Officers located the vehicle involved in the Larkin Avenue shooting and found the suspects were still in possession of the guns believed to be used in the drive-by shooting,” the post said.

Alexis Vega, 22, Alejandro Nava, 19, and a 16-year-old male juvenile, all of Modesto, were arrested and face multiple felony gun charges for the Larkin shooting, police said.

The investigation continued through the week, and detectives arrested a 17-year-old Modestan on suspicion of the Middlecoff shooting. He, too, faces multiple felony gun charges, police said.

Detectives from the Street Gang and Violent Crime units determined the Larkin shooting was in retaliation for the Middlecoff shooting.

“The motive for these shootings is still under investigation,” the Police Department’s post said, asking anyone with information to call Stanislaus Area Crime Stoppers at 209-521-4636 or MPD Detective Michael Rokaitis at 209-572-9500.
