Ceres man arrested in armed robbery at Turlock AM/PM

A Ceres man who was in the San Joaquin County jail on suspicion of two robberies in the county was re-booked Thursday for an armed robbery at a Turlock AM/PM.

Turlock Police said the man entered the convenience store at 4700 N. Golden State Boulevard on April 8 and purchased a pastry using a credit card.

The suspect then continued to browse the merchandise inside the store, selected additional items and brought them to the register, according to Turlock Police.

At that time he pulled out a firearm and demanded cash from the register. The suspect left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash and ran northbound.

On Wednesday detectives developed information about the suspect. They showed a photo lineup to the victim, who identified the suspect as Alfred Joseph Sobotka.

Detectives learned Sobotka was in the San Joaquin County jail on suspicion of two robberies there. He was re-booked Thursday on charges related to the Turlock robbery.
