The California Highway Patrol has identified a vehicle of interest in a hit and run that killed a Patterson bicyclist on Wednesday.

Frankie Sanchez, 51, was found down on Marshall Road, southeast of Patterson, just before 7 p.m. and pronounced dead at the scene.

CHP investigators said he was hit from behind. They determined, based on a part found at the scene, that it was by a GM pickup or SUV between the model years 2000-2006.

Investigators were able to narrow that field further Friday when they got surveillance video of a silver or gray pickup taken from a private property on Marshall.

“That image was captured at the time we suspect the collision occurred and that is not a heavily trafficked road by any means,” said CHP Officer Tom Olsen.

He said the pickup is either a 2000-2006 Chevrolet Silverado or GMC Sierra.

The pickup likely has front and right side collision damage and is probably missing the glass from the passenger’s side mirror but still has the assembly.

Anyone with information pertinent to the investigation is encouraged to contact the Modesto area CHP at 209-545-7440 or 209-356-2900.
