Modesto Police is looking for at least seven juveniles who were captured on surveillance cameras emptying fire hydrants at at Modesto Centre Plaza.

The juveniles suspected of emptying fire extinguishers near Modesto Centre Plaza have been turned in by their parents, police said Wednesday evening.

The youths were cited and released to the parents, the Modesto Police Department said in a Facebook update. It came several hours after an initial post that included security-camera photos of three of the suspects in Saturday’s vandalism.

As many as eight were believed to be involved. The number cited Wednesday was not available.

The earlier post said the group emptied five city-owned extinguishers that had been missing from the parking garage across from Centre Plaza.

“Looks like this group of juveniles were up to no good and we need to speak with their parents,” the initial post said.

The update said, “Thank you to everyone for helping us get them identified. You are awesome and always step up to help us fight crime!”
