Minor teen stabbed in dispute over $5 debt. Suspect charged with attempted murder
A dispute between two boys over owed money escalated to a fist fight and then a stabbing Tuesday afternoon, the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Just after 5 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a reported stabbing at a home on Sixth Avenue in Jamestown, according to a news release posted on Facebook.
They learned an altercation arose over one teen owing the other $5. The 15-year-old victim — the news release didn’t say if he was the one owed money or the one in debt — was stabbed in the torso with a pocket knife.
He was taken by ambulance to Adventist Health Sonora for treatment of moderate injuries and later released, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The suspect, who is 14 years old, was booked into the Juvenile Detention Center on charges of attempted murder and making criminal threats.
“Details of specifics are still under investigation and not being released at this time,” Sheriff’s Office spokesman Deputy Niccoli Sandelin said in a news release Wednesday afternoon.
The two teens are not related, he said.
