The windows of 46 vehicles were shot out in Newman. Police suspect teenage boys

Nearly $20,000 in damage has been done to dozens of vehicles in Newman over the past month by what police believe are teenage boys.

Newman Police said the suspects likely used a CO2-powered BB pistol to shoot out the windows of 46 vehicles during three incidents.

Lt. Brett Short said the crimes occurred on weekend evenings with an increasing number of vehicles being damaged each time. Eight vehicles were hit on Feb. 1, 14 on Feb. 7 and 24 on Feb. 21.

Short said there is surveillance video of a dark colored sedan, similar to a late-model Honda Civic, being used in the crime. Investigators believe the suspects are three or more teenage boys.

“Parents: If this sounds like your child, it’s time to get in contact with us,” reads a post on the Newman Police Department’s Facebook page.
