Deputy fires shot toward youth who rammed patrol car east of Modesto, sheriff reports

A deputy fired a gunshot toward a juvenile who rammed a patrol car during a pursuit just east of Modesto early Thursday, the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department reported.

No one was injured in the encounter, which happened around 3 a.m. and ended in the 5000 block of Parker Road, the department said in a Facebook post.

The juvenile was arrested.

Details were not available on the age or gender of the juvenile, nor on why and where else the pursuit took place.

The post said the juvenile rammed the car driven by a pursuing deputy, then lost control of the vehicle on Parker. The youth then surrendered to face charges of vehicle theft, evading arrest and assault with a deadly weapon, the post said.
