South Modesto homicide victim identified
The Modesto man who was shot to death in south Modesto over the weekend has been identified as 38-year-old Rene Raya.
Raya died in the street in the 1300 block of Bystrum Road, just east of Highway 99 and north of Hatch Road, Sunday evening.
The Sheriff’s Department, which is investigating the shooting, released no details about what transpired or if a suspect has been identified.
