Stanislaus County man faces deadly weapon charge after allegedly ramming former home
No one was hurt when a driver intentionally rammed a house south of Turlock on Saturday afternoon, the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department reported.
The incident occurred about 5 p.m. on Linwood Avenue, Sgt. Juan Alanis said. Until recently, Daniel Roy Hailestock, 68, had resided in the home, the sergeant said.
Hailestock, who was assessed by the California Highway Patrol and found to be under the influence of alcohol and drugs, drove into the living-room wall of the home, causing major damage, Alanis said. Deputies found him still in his car. He was taken to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto for evaluation, released and booked into jail.
There appears to have been one person in the house at the time of the crash, who was not in the living room and not injured, Alanis said.
Hailestock was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and driving under the combined influence of alcohol and drugs. He also was wanted on a bench warrant for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
