Two armed men invade south Modesto home while family with children sleeps

Police are asking for the public’s help identifying two men who, armed with guns, broke into a south Modesto home where a family with children was sleeping.

Modesto Police Department spokeswoman Sharon Bear said the suspects forced entry into the home through the front door.

The men, wearing bandannas and gloves, can be seen in a surveillance video rummaging through the kitchen of the home near Dezzani Lane and Ustick Road at 2:20 a.m. Wednesday.

Bear said that after that, the men went upstairs, where the family, including four children under the age of 14, were sleeping.

She said the parents had woken to the sounds of the men going through their home and the mother was in the hallway when she was confronted by them.

One of the suspects fired a gun before they both ran from the home and fled in an unknown vehicle, Bear said. No one was injured.

Bear said there’s no indication the family was targeted by the suspects. She said it does not appear anything was taken during the incident.

Anyone with information about the home invasion is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 209-521-4636.
