A Modesto man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder for allegedly stabbing a guest at a Thanksgiving gathering at his home.

The incident took place around 1 a.m. Friday in the 400 block of Sarah Jane Court, south of the Costco on Pelandale Avenue.

Modesto Police Department spokeswoman Sharon Bear said the victim was stabbed twice. He was taken by ambulance to a Modesto hospital with injuries that are not life threatening.

She said the suspect, 39-year-old Jeremy Alan Lucas, lives at the home and that the victim was invited by another person who lives there.

The attack appears to be unprovoked, Bear said. There was no argument that preceded the stabbing or other apparent motive.

Lucas remained at the home when police arrived but initially refused to come out. Bear said he surrendered after about 20 minutes.

Lucas was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest.
