Burglary suspected arrested at commercial building on Carpenter Road

A Modesto man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after he was found burglarizing a closed commercial building on Carpenter Road, the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department reported.

A caller reported a break-in at the building on the 1600 block of Carpenter Road at about 4 p.m. Deputies responding found a man inside who claimed to be taking care of the property, said Sgt. Jon McQueary.

The owner was notified and said the man was not a caretaker. He went to the scene and told deputies an estimated $5,000 worth of equipment was missing from the building.

Richard Duane Vaughn, 51, was booked on a charge of commercial burglary and parole violation.
