A 61-year-old Manteca man was arrested Tuesday and booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on charges of possession and distribution of child pornography.
The arrest of Edward Bowden came after a long-term investigation, the Manteca Police Department reported. Earlier this year, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reported finding a pornographic video of a female believed to be less than 8 years old. Further investigation showed the video was uploaded in the Manteca area.
Based on that information, Manteca police Detective Steve Schluer was able to locate the residence where the video was uploaded.
On Tuesday, detectives served a search warrant in the 300 block of North Union Road. They arrested Bowden and seized computers, cameras and digital storage devices. They located hundreds of images of child pornography during the search.
The ages of the victims ranged from infants to teens, according to the news release from the Police Department. The Department of Justice will conduct a forensic search of the electronic equipment.
A bail amount of $275,000 was set for Bowden.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Schluer at (209) 456- 8101.
