Jamestown man charged with assault in stabbing
A Jamestown man is in custody after stabbing an acquaintance in the leg during an altercation over a woman, the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Department reports.
Frank Jack Bell, 59, faces felony charges of assault with a deadly weapon and making threats. He remained in the Tuolumne County Jail on Wednesday morning, with bail set at $40,000.
At about 5:50 p.m. Tuesday, deputies were dispatched to the Twin Pines Mobile Home Park on Wigwam Road in Jamestown on a report of a stabbing. A 50-year-old male victim was found bleeding from a stab wound to the leg. The suspect had fled the area, said Sgt. Scott Johnson, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Department.
The victim identified Bell as his attacker. The men are acquaintances and were in Bell’s residence, where they began to argue over a woman. The argument turned physical and Bell brandished a knife. During the altercation, the victim was stabbed in the leg.
The man was transported by ambulance to Sonora Regional Medical Center for treatment of the wound, which was not life-threatening, Johnson said.
Bell voluntarily returned to the scene of the incident about 7:45 p.m., met with deputies and was taken into custody.
