A pedestrian crossing an intersection against a red light Wednesday night was struck by a driver who then fled the scene, Modesto police report.

The crash occurred about 9:20 p.m. at Dale Road and Standiford Avenue, Police Department spokeswoman Sharon Bear said Thursday. The pedestrian, an adult male, suffered what appeared to be moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital, she said. Information on his condition was not available Thursday morning.

The car involved continued going, witnesses told police. A witness described it as a new-model white Toyota Camry. The driver was a male wearing a black hat, Bear said.

Anyone with information on the hit-and-run collision is urged to contact Stanislaus Area Crime Stoppers at 209-521-4636. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward. Tips also can be submitted via www.stancrimetips.org.
