Police investigating discovery of body in downtown Modesto

Modesto police are investigating what they have classified as a “suspicious death” after a body was found next to trash cans in a driveway behind several businesses in downtown Modesto.

The building at G and 18th streets contains several businesses including Ocean Asian Massage, which is nearest the driveway.

Some witnesses in the area said the body is that of a woman who was bleeding from the head. Late Monday afternoon, police confirmed it was a woman and said the case had been upgraded to a homicide.

No further information about the identity of the body, the manner of death or when the individual died has been released police.
