Suspect orders Subway sandwich, takes off with cash register drawer
Modesto police are looking for a man who ordered a sandwich at a Subway, then walked out with the cash register drawer.
The robbery occurred at the Subway at the Crossroads shopping center on North Carpenter Avenue on Feb. 27 around 7:30 p.m.
The Modesto Police Department released video of the man, wearing jeans, a black shirt, a black hat and black gloves, as he waited for the sandwich he ordered to be made. He shifts from foot to foot and stretches his arms behind him during the 17-second clip.
Police spokeswoman Sharon Bear said that when the clerk opened the cash register, the suspect reached over the counter and grabbed the drawer full of money.
The suspect left the restaurant and was last seen getting into a late-model black Mustang.
