A man wanted for assaulting a woman outside a Sonora bar was arrested two days later when officers were called to another bar where he was trying to kick in the doors after closing time, police said. A second suspect is still outstanding.

Travis Jahncke, 37, of Sonora was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on Monday. Another suspect, 26-year-old James Cameron of Copperopolis, is also wanted in the assault and remains at large, according to the Sonora Police Department.

The incident started outside The Office Bar at about 1:15 a.m. April 13, when Cameron’s girlfriend got into a fight with the victim, a friend of Cameron’s ex-girlfriend, police said.

While the women were on the ground, Jahncke and Cameron kicked the victim multiple times in the head and ribs, police said. She was taken to the hospital for treatment of moderate injuries, said police Sgt. Curtis Hankins.

Witnesses identified the suspects and warrants were issued for their arrest, police said.

Anyone with information about Cameron’s location is asked to call the Sonora Police Department at 209-532-8143.
