Three people were shot on a court off Crows Landing Road on Sunday afternoon, and one died, Modesto police report.

About 2:30 p.m., emergency dispatch got a call of multiple subjects shot on Lita Court. The court is off Pecos Avenue, which intersects with Crows Landing just south of Highway 99.

Officers found three people suffering gunshot wounds. Two were taken to hospitals, but there was no immediate word on their conditions, Officer Adam Foster said at the scene. The third person died.

The incident began with an argument, which escalated to gunfire, Foster said.

Police were releasing no immediate information on the victims, including genders and ages. There also was no suspect or suspect vehicle information released, though the Modesto Police Department posted on Facebook that it would provide updates there.

In the 6 p.m. hour, the crime scene team and detectives remained at the crime scene, continuing to gather evidence and conduct interviews. A drone aircraft was launched to take photos.
