More than 1,200 marijuana plants seized at illegal Angels Camp grow

More than 1,200 marijuana plants and 67 pounds of processed marijuana were seized from a home in Angels Camp on Wednesday.

A search warrant was served at the home in the 5000 block of Spur Road, where investigators found an unpermitted addition to a residence and a carport had been converted for marijuana cultivation, according to a press release from the Calaveras Country Sheriff’s Office.

A total of 1,227 marijuana plants, 64 pounds of processed marijuana and one shotgun were seized.

Feng Gao, 37, of Sacramento, was arrested on suspicion of illegal marijuana cultivation, maintaining a drug house, possession of marijuana for sale and conspiracy.

Calaveras County Code Compliance was contacted and flagged the residence and carport as substandard due to hazardous electrical conditions and because no permits were obtained for the structural changes.

The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone with information on illegal marijuana cultivation or manufacturing sites to call the Sheriff’s Marijuana Tip Line at (209) 754-6870.
