Modesto Police on Monday afternoon searched a home across from the Creekside Golf Course in east Modesto after a man was seen standing in front of the house holding a gun.

Lt. Brandon Gillespie said a golfer saw the man with the gun in front of a home in the 3100 block of Dry Creek Drive.

The man ran to the back of the house but came back out front without his weapon when police arrived.

Gillespie said the man, who was determined to be the homeowner, told police there were two burglars in his attic.

Officers used a police dog to search the home and attic. The fire department brought a ladder so officers could gain access to the roof where they searched both sides and looked inside the chimney.

A sergeant at the scene said no one was found inside.
