Update: Deputy-involved shooting reported in central Modesto
Update, 2:35 p.m.:
A Stanislaus County Sheriff’s deputy shot someone during a sting operation in central Modesto, police said. Modesto Police Department spokeswoman Sharon Bear said the deputy shot one individual.
There are no reports of any deputies being injured.

Authorities are investigating a shooting in central Modesto.
The incident was reported about 1:20 p.m. in the area of Carver and Theresa Street. The area is near the intersection of Carver and Orangeburg Avenue.
Early reports indicate one person was shot. Information on this individual’s identity, and his or her condition, and the circumstances surrounding the shooting, were not immediately available.
Modesto police have shut down Carver Road. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area.
A large police presence is evident in the area, with patrol cars from Modesto Police and the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department, as well as the MPD SWAT van.
