Stanislaus Sheriff’s Department: Four drive-by shootings in in one night

The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department responded to four drive-by shootings from Saturday night to early Sunday morning.

A woman was injured in the first shooting at about 11 p.m. Saturday near Paradise Road and Mayette Avenue in west Modesto, said Sgt. Jon McQueary. She was driving in the area when a suspect in another car opened fire, striking her car several times and hitting her in the right lower leg.

The woman was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Three and a half hours later two south Modesto homes in the 900 block of Mock Avenue, and the cars in front of them, were struck by bullets, McQueary said.

Later in the morning residents on Musick Avenue, also in south Modesto, called to report their home had been fired at some time in the middle of the night. McQueary said another home on Musick within the jurisdiction of the Ceres Police Department was also hit.
